St. Andrew’s Thrift Shop had its beginning nearly forty years ago in a tiny upstairs room in St. Peter’s parish hall. It now occupies spacious, welcoming quarters in St. Andrew’s parish hall. The shop offers gently used household items, including some furniture, toys, books and clothes for the whole family. The quality is high; the prices low. Profits fund gifts to local charities as well as contributing to St. Andrew’s maintenance. Each year four or five charities are selected for substantial donations. In 2016 they will be Hospice of St. Mary’s, St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League, U.S. Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and St. Mary’s Caring. For those in need--families who have lost everything to a fire, for example--in cooperation with Social Services, the shop provides free clothing and household needs to help reestablish their life. The shop’s mission is to serve our community in many ways, and to support St. Andrew’s work and outreach. Hours are Wednesday and Thursday  9:00 a.m. till noon; Saturday  10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. The telephone number is 240 925-7445.
